Video blog from Matera, which is a city and a province in the region of Basilicata, in southern Italy. Known as “la Città Sotterranea” (the Subterranean City), Matera is well known for its historical center called “Sassi”, considered World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993, along with the Park of the Rupestrian Churches.
Pastor Domenico, Salvatore and I went to visit the historical center of Matera called “Sassi”, which is where the first evangelical church was established back in the early 1900’s.
We were able to see where the early believers worshipped – and thanks to Italian believers returning from the United States to share their testimonies of conversion to faith in Christ, the church in this region was able to flourish.
It was exciting to see some old photographs of open air missions led by the believers of the time.
Here are some photos taken from the meeting this evening.
Please pray that the Gospel would reach the 60,000 people thath live in this province, and that the local christians can be mobilised to do effective evangelism, to continue what was started back in 1906.
